MPO-MPO Patch Cords

MPO-MPO patch cord is used for signal transmission, both sides are MPO connectors. Common cables are round type, and fiber counts are 12/24/36/48/72/144 cores.

Description

Parameter Category Parameter Item Typical Value/Options Explanation
Connector Type MPO Specification MPO-12, MPO-16, MPO-24 12-fiber/16-fiber/24-fiber connectors; MPO-12 (40G) and MPO-24 (100G/400G) are most common.
Gender Male (with guide pins), Female (without guide pins) Male connectors plug into adapters; Female connectors are used for panel mounting.
Fiber Type Mode/Grade Multimode: OM3, OM4, OM5
Singlemode: OS2
OM3/OM4 for short-range high-speed (e.g., 100G-SR4); OS2 for long-range (10km+).
Fiber Count 12-fiber, 24-fiber, 32-fiber Must match transceiver channels (e.g., 100G-SR4 uses 20 fibers out of 24).
Optical Performance Insertion Loss Multimode: ≤0.35 dB
Singlemode: ≤0.5 dB
Typical factory-terminated values; field terminations may have higher loss.
Return Loss Multimode: ≥20 dB
Singlemode: ≥50 dB
Singlemode requires higher values to minimize reflections.
Mechanical Properties Mating Cycles ≥500 cycles Complies with IEC 61754-7 standard.
Tensile Strength ≥100N (trunk cable) Ensures fiber integrity during installation.
Bend Radius Static: ≥10× cable diameter
Dynamic: ≥20× cable diameter
Prevents signal loss due to excessive bending.
Environmental Operating Temperature -20°C to +70°C Suitable for standard data center environments.
Fire Rating OFNR (Riser), LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) Choose based on deployment (e.g., LSZH for confined spaces).
Polarity Scheme TIA-568 Standard Type A (Straight-through), Type B (Reversed), Type C (Pair-flipped) Ensures correct Tx/Rx alignment (Type B is most common).
Application Speed & Distance Multimode (OM4):
– 40G-SR4: 150m
– 100G-SR4: 100m
Singlemode (OS2):
– 100G-LR4: 10km
Actual distance depends on transceiver and link budget.
Transceiver Compatibility QSFP+, QSFP28, OSFP, etc.
